EA Barcelona has marched into March by co-hosting a guest lecture on AI Governance, a rationality bookclub focussed on improving decision making, as well as two supportive coworking sessions. Ready for the recap? Let’s go!

Anthony Lara joins the team as Assistant Community Builder 🚀

Originally from Colombia and now based in Castelldefels, Anthony is excited to bring his diverse background in psychology, education, and social initiatives to the team. He’s already contributed to past events, like our "Veg-curious" plant-based cooking demo, and now he’ll be playing an even bigger role in helping us expand our outreach and create more impactful events, including more activities in Spanish. We’re thrilled to have Anthony on board to help us continue building a community of people who care deeply about helping others 💙

Tristan Williams shares his insights on AI governance 🏛

AI Safety Barcelona invited Tristan Williams (Center for AI Policy) to share his insights on the intersection of AI and education, autonomous weapons and pricvacy, at UPC Nord campus. We wrapped up with a fun Kahoot quiz and exciting announcements about upcoming reading groups and an AI Safety hackathon. Keen to get involved? AIS Barcelona would be very happy to hear from you!

Bookclub: Thinking in Bets 🃏

We are now halfway through Thinking in Bets: Making Smarter Decisions When You Don't Have All the Facts by Annie Duke. With Tobi guiding us, we’ve explored how to treat difficult decisions as “bets”, the concept of resulting, and how to separate outcomes from decision quality. Together, we’ve tried to apply these new ideas to our career choices and daily dilemmas, and we’re grateful for the curiosity and open-mindedness everyone brings to the table! Looking forward to the second half 📚

Coworking in Sopa ☕️

At our last coworking session at Sopa, we enjoyed chatting about the dilemma between giving locally and giving internationally, and congratulated Gina on finishing her Phd on radical climate disobendience! We plan these sessions so that our members can connect, share ideas, and make progress on impactful projects in a relaxed, collaborative space.
